Design Concept

The swimming hole is designed as a low-impact, high-value amenity that responds directly to site challenges. It was carefully located in a natural low point to reduce grading, with low retaining walls added to manage surrounding slopes. A flat, accessible sand beach was shaped to support inclusive use, while surrounding facilities—like restrooms, the swim shack, and fire pits—were sited based on views, sun patterns, and topography. A bypass channel ensures proper water flow and long-term quality. These integrated strategies create a recreational hub rooted in both function and the natural character of the site.

Limestone Gulch Swimming Hole Site Plan

The swimming hole at Limestone Gulch is envisioned as a central gathering space and the heart of the community’s recreational amenities. Located at the core of the amenity zone, it was carefully sited using the natural topography to minimize grading and maximize both function and scenic value.

Encompassing approximately 0.5 acres, the swimming hole follows the land’s natural contours, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. It is framed by a sand beach, shaded deck, fire pits, restrooms, and a swim shack, offering a mix of active and passive experiences for all ages.

A bypass channel helps manage seasonal water flow and supports long-term water quality. The result is a low-impact, high-value feature that not only reflects the Hill Country setting but also serves as a welcoming destination for connection, relaxation, and community life.
